Freshly Made Sketches 210

And here we are again with a new sketch from Freshly Made Sketches!  The weeks sure do fly by!  This week the supremely talented Cindy Lovell is our hostess!

I have a little confession to make.  The FMS design team likes to joke a bit because one of us doesn't like to see circles on sketches.  And a few weeks ago we learned that another of us doesn't like things that are centered.   Well in the spirit of true confessions I will say that three of something on a sketch kind of freaks me out!  I fretted for several days over this sketch because I'm never quite sure what to do with those three things.  Are they supposed to be three of the same thing?  Or three different things? Don't ask me!

I started out with an entirely different card than what you see here but with the help of the colors from Stamp Ink Paper and a little flip of the sketch, this card was born!  Whew!

The ladies from Freshly Made Sketches obviously had no trouble with this sketch as you will see when  you visit there.  I hope to see you in the gallery later!

Thanks for stopping by!

colourQ 314!

Apparently I had one more Halloween card in me this year.  The latest palette at colourQ inspired this one.

I went with some simple graphic shapes on my card courtesy of the latest challenge at Sketch Saturday.  It's been a while since I put together a card that had so many different little layers and pieces!

I usually find myself going overboard making Halloween cards but this year I managed to restrain myself and only made a few.  This one uses one of my favorite bats.  He's so elegant with that swirly design on his wings!  If a bat can be elegant, that is!  Actually, I think bats (the real ones) are kind of cute.  Many years ago one got in my house and after flying around a bit it landed on a window curtain.  He looked so cute just hanging out there and I've been enamored of them ever since!  Call me crazy, I know!

My fellow colourQ teamies have made some beauties with these colors this week so make sure you check them out! I hope we'll get to see you in the gallery this week!

Freshly Made Sketches 209!

This is two weeks in a row that my Freshly Made Sketches card has been a Christmas card.  As always around this time of year I start to worry that I don't have enough Christmas cards made.  Luckily for me Jen Brum's sketch with a tree put me in mind of Christmas - but don't worry - you can use whatever shape want.  I didn't use a tree but I did use another iconic Christmas image.

The inspiration challenge at Tis' The Season had a bit of a muted-neutral look to it so that inspired the colors of my card.  I almost used green on the sentiment - to echo the green of the pine sprigs - but decided that carrying on with my neutral theme looked better.

I hope you have some time to check out the cards at Freshly Made Sketches because there's a lot of inspiration to be had there.  We'd love to see your interpretation of this sketch in the gallery!  I hope you can join us!

colourQ 313!

Hello, hello!  It's time for a new challenge at colourQ!  Since October is breast cancer awareness month it is only fitting that we sneak in some pink this month.  Our inspiration this week comes from this t-shirt.

I have a few stamp sets that are good to use for cards like this and once I saw the sketch at CAS(E) This Sketch I knew exactly which one to use.  The script is stamped in Going Gray, the bold HOPE is stamped in Melon Mambo and it was simple to add the pink ribbon (although not that simple to fussy cut it out)!  Surely there is a ribbon die out there somewhere I should buy, right?

The ladies at colourQ have made some truly beautiful cards this week with these colors so be sure to check them out.  I hope to see you in the gallery!

Thanks for stopping by!

Freshly Made Sketches #208

It's time for a new challenge at Freshly Made Sketches!  This week our sketch is designed by Cindy Hall.  I do love a sketch with some great geometric shapes!

I flipped the sketch because I really wanted to use this subway style stamp from Verve and it fit better with a long and skinny layer rather than a short and fat one!  Originally I was going to use a poinsettia die cut out in vellum in place of the other rectangle but as I was looking through my stamps I found this pretty Christmas image and used that instead stamped in the gold Delicata ink.  It's so shimery in real life!

Our amazing Freshly Made Sketches design team has got some beautiful cards to show you this week so be sure to stop by and see them.  I hope you'll have time to join us in the gallery!

colourQ 312

The new palette at colourQ will surely make you think of Halloween.  But I decided to have a little fun with the colors and make a card with some leaves - autumn style.

The Sketch at As You See It was a good jumping off point for me and since the challenge this week at Time Out Challenges is autumn I decided I'd try my hand at adapting these colors for a bit of an autumn themed card.  An old favorite stamp set,  French Foliage, provided the leaves and the Patio Stone circle in the background was stamped with Basic Gray, stamping off once so the color would be a bit muted.  I love how this looks, especially with the black embossing paste design down the side.

Tag You're It 32

It occurred to me the other day that Christmas is not that far way.  I mean here it is, October 9th and I've only got a handful of Christmas cards made. Yikes!  I best get to work.  Luckily the challenge this week at Tag You're It from Kelly has got a Santa on it so I felt compelled to put a Santa on my tag.  I can always add that tag to a card later on!

The gold accents on Kelly's card became gold snowflakes on mine. And her die cut sentiment became a banner on my tag.  I love how easily these tags can be adapted!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope that we'll see you in the gallery at Tag You're It!

Freshly Made Sketches 207

I'm a bit late getting my post up for Freshly Made Sketches but better late than never!  Our sketch this week is brought to you by Kim Singdahlsen.

I wanted to do a bit of a fall theme with my card.  Then I saw the color challenge at Sunday Stamps and the inspiration challenge at The Card Concept and incorporated both of those into my design as well.

The leaves on my card didn't turn out exactly as I wanted which means I need to go shopping for some new leaves!  Ha!

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope I get to see you in the gallery this week at Freshly Made Sketches!

colourQ 311

It's that time of year again when I dig out one of my favorite stamp sets.  Yep, Best Fiends got dusted off and inked up for the latest challenge at colourQ!

I love this color combo for Halloween.  Before I started card-making I never would have thought that Wisteria Wonder and Kiwi Kiss were Halloween colors but thanks to the magic of color challenges I've learned to think outside the box and realize that these colors are FABULOUS at Halloween.  And they are perfect for my little version of Herman Munster!

The sketch at Fusion is pretty cool so I used that for my layout.  I was originally going to use some patterned paper on the background but opted to use a brick wall embossing folder instead.  I think the grungy brick wall matches my little grungy guy!

The gals at colourQ have got some beautiful cards for you to see this week.  And we also welcome back Silke after a little hiatus!   Hope to see you in the gallery!
